So I think I am now going to be encouraging people to move on over to the xkcd:could be better! message board and post there rather than here. It's more conducive to the sort of thing we're trying to get at here.
I'm not entirely certain that you know what the word better means. I mean yeah, xkcd has struck out a bit lately on some of the strips, but none of them are that bad.
For the record, I never expressly stated that Randall's comics were good just because he's popular. Hell, I didn't even use the word popular. I said famous. Hitler's famous, doesn't mean I like him. I know Randall's comics are far better than any of these, though.
Yes, well, saying that these comics aren't good and then saying that because of that you can see why Randall is famous and these are not certainly implies that you think Randall's comics are good. At the very least, it makes your statement confusing. (Also, famous and popular are pretty much the same thing. And if you think otherwise, I'll have to pull out the word infamous and then we'll have to have a long drawn out argument over connotation. Let's not do that.)
Hello internet. When I am not working diligently on my anti-xkcd hate site, I am now going to be working on this new group project. We'll put up a blank xkcd template, you add words and stuff to make it funnier. Funnier than the original at least (usually an easy task). Upload it somewhere and post with a link in the comments.
FUN FOR ALL
It's the XKCD FONT, everyone!
Regular contributor Ch00f has made a kick-ass xkcd font for making your own versions of xkcd comics look so good. Read all about it and download it right here.

ReplyDeleteYou can read the (extremely gross) alt-text here: http://www.plurk.com/p/l0yrm
ReplyDeleteYet again, I find these edited versions to be truly funny, where the originals have sucked.
ReplyDeleteVery tasteless, but my entry is here: http://i39.tinypic.com/mjb9t3.jpg

LOL, I got epic news for you. Randall hated my comic so much, he banned me from his Plurk! Guess he doesn't take criticism very well!
ReplyDeleteHere's my attempt (an alternate history of the lithium battery):

ReplyDeleteYes. That is exactly what I said.
ReplyDeleteI humbly submit my xkcd 561 improvements.
